Discover Greek Honey: A Sweet September Tasting Experience in Athens

In September, we had the pleasure of hosting a unique honey-tasting experience at our bee farm in Athens, welcoming visitors from the NY, USA to explore the rich flavors and heritage of Greek honey. Our guests enjoyed tasting 10 distinct varieties of honey, including thyme, pine, chestnut, and wildflower—each reflecting the unique landscapes and diverse flora of Greece.

We offered an immersive educational experience into the world of honey bees. Visitors learned about the bees' fascinating role in producing honey, royal jelly, propolis, and beeswax, and how these products are essential to health and wellness. We also shared insights into the critical environmental role bees play in pollinating plants, helping to sustain biodiversity, and supporting both natural ecosystems and agriculture.

The session went beyond just taste. We started with orange blossom honey from Peloponnese, thyme honey from the islands, fir and pine honeys from conifer forests and other varieties like heather honey, chestnut and bitter-aftertaste strawberry tree honey.

The session was filled with appreciation for Greek tradition, as visitors savored the complexity of each honey and learned about the life inside a beehive. Our guests left with a newfound understanding of the importance of bees to nature, as well as the delicate balance they help maintain in our environment.
